Check Valves

Poppet and Lift Check Valves

Check Valves

Swagelok offers a broad line of adjustable and fixed cracking pressure check valves to control back flow in general-service and high-purity applications.

Check valves:

  • Are designed to allow fluids to flow in one direction only
  • Are rated for use in medium- and high-pressure applications

Spring and Poppet Check Valves (C, CA, CH, CP, and CPA Series)

Spring-and-poppet check valves are available with nominal cracking pressures ranging from 1/3 to 600 psi (0.03 to 41.4 bar) in 316 stainless steel and brass and with end connections 1/8 to 1 in. and 6 to 25 mm in size.

Working Pressures Up to 6000 psig (413 bar)
Temperature –50 to 400°F (–45 to 204°C)
Nominal Cracking Pressure
Fixed 1/3 to 25 psi (0.02 to 1.7 bar)
Adjustable 3 to 600 psi (0.21 to 41.4 bar)
Body Material 316 stainless steel, brass
Seal Material Fluorocarbon FKM, Buna N
Flow Coefficient 0.10 to 4.7
End Connections
Type Swagelok® tube fittings, NPT, ISO, SAE/MS, VCO® O-ring fittings, VCR® face seal fittings
Size 1/8 to 1 in.; 6 to 25 mm

Check Valves (IPT Series)

Ball-seal poppet, soft-seal poppet or dual-seal ball check valves are available with working pressures up to 60000 psig (4134 bar) and a nominal cracking pressure of 15 psi (1.0 bar) in 316 stainless steel with end connections 1/4 to 1 in. in size. These valves are available for sour gas applications with materials selected in accordance with NACE MR0175/ISO15156.

Working Pressures Up to 60000 psig (4134 bar)
Temperature Up to 650°F (343°C)
Nominal Cracking Pressure 15 psi (1.0 bar), optional pressures available
Body Material 316 stainless steel
Seal Options Ball-seal poppet—metal-to-metal seat
Soft-seal poppet—O-ring seat, standard material is HNBR
Dual-seal ball—glass-filled PTFE seat, backed by metal-to-metal sealing
End Connections
Type Swagelok medium-pressure tube fittings (soft-seal and ball-seal only), female NPT, cone and thread
Size 1/4 to 3/4 in. (medium-pressure tube fitting); 1/8 to 1 in. (female NPT), 1/4 to 1 in. (cone and thread)

Lift Check Valves (50 Series)

Lift check valves limit reverse flow - forward flow lifts the poppet, opening the valve. Reverse flow seats the poppet against the orifice, closing the valve. The lift check valve is gravity assisted and must be mounted horizontally, with bonnet nut on top.

Working Pressures Up to 6000 psig (413 bar)
Temperature –65 to 900°F (–53 to 482°C)
Body Material 316 stainless steel
Poppet Material S17400 stainless steel
Flow Coefficient 0.30 to 2.20
End Connections
Type Swagelok tube fittings, female NPT, tube socket weld or pipe butt weld
Size 1/4 to 3/4 in.; 6 mm

All-Welded, High-Purity Check Valves (CW Series)

The CW series high-purity check valve is designed for clean operation and reliable fluid containment.

Working Pressures Up to 3000 psig (206 bar)
Temperature –10 to 400°F (–23 to 204°C)
Body Material 316L stainless steel
Cracking Pressure Less than 2 psi (0.14 bar)
Maximum Back Pressure Full pressure rating
Maximum Pressure Drop 145 psi (10.0 bar)
Minimum Burst Pressure 12000 psig (826 bar) at 70°F (20°C)
